Buy at auction
From house-clearance mixed boxes to fine antiques — bid in the room, on the phone, or live online.
Three ways to bid
Register once, then bid however suits you. Every lot is catalogued online with photographs, and our team is happy to answer questions before the sale.
In the room
Join us at the saleroom in the Historic Dockyard and bid in person on viewing and sale days.
Live online
Bid in real time through our online catalogue — create an account and follow the auctioneer live.
Commission & phone
Leave a maximum bid in advance, or arrange a telephone line for higher-value lots.
Buyer's premium
20% + VAT
Added to the hammer price of each lot, plus any online platform charges. Example: a £20 hammer adds £4.80.
Viewing days
Come and inspect lots in person ahead of each auction. Viewing times are listed against every sale in the calendar.
Collection & postage
Collect within 3 working days (storage of £5/lot/day applies thereafter). In-house packing and postage available on most items — no postage on knives/weapons, and no overseas postage.
Buyer questions, answered
How do I register to bid?
Create an account through our online catalogue and complete a quick registration. There is no registration fee for buyers.
What fees will I pay on top of the hammer price?
A buyer's premium of 20% + VAT is added to each lot, plus any online platform charges. VAT applies to the premium, not usually to the hammer price.
Can I see condition reports?
Yes. Each lot is photographed and described; contact us before the sale for additional condition information on any lot.
How and when do I collect?
Please collect within 3 working days of the sale. From the 4th working day a storage charge of £5 per lot per day applies. We also offer in-house packing and postage on most items.
Do you ship overseas?
We post within the UK on most items (excluding knives and weapons) but do not offer overseas postage. Transport can be arranged at £60/hour (£50 + VAT), minimum £30.
